These experiments grew from a shared frustration: existing language tools teach vocabulary that rarely translates to real, day-to-day interactions. The question became: what if AI could adapt to individual learning contexts instead?
The result is three tools. Tiny Lesson generates situation-specific vocabulary when users describe a context they need help with. Slang Hang creates realistic native-speaker conversations to help users understand informal language. Word Cam turns the camera into a vocabulary helper. Snap a photo and Gemini labels what it sees in the target language.
The design challenge was creating something distinctly Google without following strict Material Design rules. Chunky, playful, and engaging enough to feel like an experiment, not a product. Custom illustrations kept the tone colorful while letting the learning content stay front and center.
